Overview
Our Infant Program works primarily with providing a loving, safe environment
that encourages developmental growth. The children are between 6 weeks
and 16 months. We keep the child/staff ratio below what is required
at 3 to 1 (MN law requires 4 to 1) and maximum capacity in the room
is 16.
Environment
The infant room is filled with toys that are appropriate for the babys'
wide range of development such as bouncy chairs for newborns, exersausers,
and trucks and dolls for the older babies.
The eating and sleeping rooms are kept separate from the activity room
so that the children are not distracted or woken up.
Meals and Snacks
We ask that you provide the food that your infant will eat
each day. We have a refrigerator for storage and a microwave oven for
heating food and bottles. We will discard any bottles or food left overnight
in the refrigerator, as required by the Bloomington Health Department.
We provide juice and snacks on a daily basis if and when you feel that
this is appropriate for your infant.
Daily Activity
When the weather cooperates, we take the infants on walks
within the neighborhood and nearby parks in our safe, multiple-child
strollers. We have an indoor gym for the older infants and many rockers
to lull tired babies to sleep.
What to Provide
We ask that you provide the following items-when appropriate:
- Diapers
- Vaseline, powder, etc.
- Bottles and food-please indicate daily requirements.
- A complete change of clothing including appropriate
outdoor wear.
- A pacifier, if your child uses one. If so, please
bring several.
- Any blanket, toy, pillow, etc. that may provide
comfort and security for your child.
